It is with considerable enthusiasm that I greet you on behalf of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and welcome you to the fields of survey research and public opinion research.
Our fields of study and practice are very honorable ones, as well as being extremely important for the countries and peoples of the world. Through the use of systematic scientific methods to gather and analyze social and behavior science data, researchers such as you will help produce valuable information to inform decision-makers in the government, academic, private and public sectors, as well as the general public at large.
I extend to you my very best wishes for your full success in these exciting fields of inquiry and practice.
Sincerely,
Paul J. Lavrakas, Ph.D.

I would very much like to congratulate the instructors. I wish them a fruitful time and hope that the excellent students whom I met at Pyongyang University of Science and Technology will be enriched by the teaching and continue to bring great credit to their university - which is increasingly admired in the English-speaking world for the quality of its students and staff and for its notable achievements.
